Since purchasing the MDA kit, which came with the HiSpec Motorsport braking system as part of the kit, the powers that be have changed the regulations regarding the hand brake system.
The hydraulic activated hand brake rear calliper, from HiSpec, will no longer be accepted for the IVA test.
HiSpec have developed a fully mechanical unit which meets the IVA test requirements.
Last April (2009) I ordered a new set of these callipers in exchange for my existing Radial Billet callipers.
They finally arrived on the 25th September (2009) but without any refund for my exiting callipers!!!!
The following photographs show theses replacement rear callipers.
Unfortunately the hand brake cables supplied by HiSpec Motorsport had to be modified as the new cable connections did not match my existing ones at the hand brake balance bar, so I took them up to Speedy Cables, who modified them to my specification.
When I tried fitting the modified cables I found that I had specified the inner cable at about 40mm too long, so it was back up to Speedy Cables for them to be modified again.
Finally they fitted correctly and the hand brake system now works okay.

Hand brake is applied, in this photo, & you can see that the return spring is fully compressed.
Installation of the outer cable onto the calliper is quite tricky due to the limited space bewteen the calliper and its supporting bracket.
The actuating lever can been seen here.
It acts upon two small additional friction pads.
The lever in this position is not under any tension as the outer cable is not installed.

Watch this space!! When the car was submitted for its IVA test, it failed on the hand brake application which was not even sufficient to pass an MOT!!
So I had to purchase and have installed BREMBO hand brake callipers and have new cables made up for the hand brake operation.
